Virtuous Weddings is
a project of Keeping Home, a business dedicated to promoting positive
homekeeping and helping keep Christian homes healthy and
happy.
The goals of Virtuous
Weddings are:
- To provide a wedding planning site that glorifies God
in every way.
- To help couples and families plan God-honoring
wedding celebrations.
- To provide information and resources related to
weddings
that meet the needs of individuals and families who seek to live
Christ-centered, virtuous lives in obedience to the word of
God.
Although we can be sure that I and each of my visitors who support
these goals will not always agree on the particulars of what qualifies
as meeting these goals, my visitors can, without question, expect to
find on this website the principles of modesty, sincerity, purity,
simplicity, honesty, practicality, true loveliness and true love,
faithfulness, and godly womanhood and manhood firmly upheld, regardless
of our differences upon these very matters, and shall expect to find
worldliness, immodesty, pretentiousness, dishonety, extravagance,
ludeness, dissapation, and so forth, greatly avoided.
How Virtuous
Weddings came to be
For several years I felt the need for a wedding planning site similar
to the popular planning sites on the web yet very, very different:
from a totally Christian perspective, Bible-based, down-to-earth, and
with equal emphasis on the wedding, the relationship, and the starting
of a new household. I wanted it to be a place where "living together
before marriage" is not only not expected, but is not accepted. I
wanted it to be a place where brides and grooms aren't assumed to be
older, and where brides, if not grooms, are often living at home with
their parents. I wanted it to be a place where parents are honored and
family relationships are valued.
But . . .
I had no I idea how to do it. I'm not an expert on weddings. I was not
a
business person (that was the big one!), and although I was having to
learn in order to be a free-lance writer, this just seemed way beyond
my abilities. I could think of no one who could help me run such a
business. So, I dismissed the idea as one of those things I come up
with that will never happen and probably wasn't really that important
anyway.
Then, in the the winter of 2007, as I was browsing around the web (I
don't even remember what I was looking for), it hit me: how can I NOT
do this! Who am I to tell God that a wedding planning site that
glorifies Him and truly helps his children is not important enough for
me to apply myself to? I decided to do something small and
simple--whether or not it ever became popular, whether or not it could
be a profitible venture. I would share my thoughts on the web and hope
they helped someone!
Well, it's 2008. The site has been up for more than a year, and the
Lord is already taking this project
farther than I ever expected it to go. I guess He didn't see the need
of telling me how to do it until I needed to know!
I hope this site is a blessing to many people . . . or any
people.
Sincerely,
Christina A. Huffman
