Return to For the Bride

Being You

Being You is important during the wedding planning process because brides and grooms (and others) are still who they are during this time. Their lives (even the brides'!) aren't only about the wedding or getting married.

Things to Consider

  • Nurture your spiritual life
  • Take care of yourself
  • Honor your parents
  • Love your loved-ones
  • Fulfill your responsibilities
  • Balance your brain

Take Care of Yourself

  • Get 7-8 hours of sleep each night
  • Drink 6-8 glasses (8 oz) of water each day.
  • Be physically active every day (even a little bit is much better than none).
  • Eat slowly and chew thoroughly. Your digestive system will be much happier. I know this is hard when you are busy!

Honor Your Parents

  • . . . and your parents-in-law to be.

Love Your Loved Ones

  • Ladies ~ Don't forget to spend time with your girlfriends when you don't talk about the wedding. Even if they love weddings, their lives don't revolve around your wedding!

Balance Your Brain

  • Do you tend to hyper-focus ~ that is, focus in too much on one thing (task, area of life) for too long, to the exclusion of other things? Try scheduling "on days" and "off days." Pick days when you will concentrate on wedding planning and days when you won't focus on wedding planning at all, as well as in-between days when you can do whatever comes naturally. If you think of something to do on an off-day, jot it down and then forget about it until the off-day is over. You brain needs a rest! Do the same for other aspects of getting married, like house-buying.
