My top choices would be apples, pears, pumpkins, or winter squash, but there are other attractive options . . . and not-so-attractive options, too, that would still be appropriate for some types of showers (like those that are food or garden themed).
What’s On Sale In Fall?
Think about upcoming holidays and themes, especially when it comes to party supplies and decorations. Can you grab things for your shower while they’re on sale? Fall decor is a big deal on it’s own, plus there’s Thanksgiving. And of course, Christmas. Christmas and “holiday” themed supplies and decor will be available as soon as they can get their feet in the door. While it may seem like they could only be used for Christmas showers, or at least winter, that’s not necessarily true. If good sales are happening, take a look!

Take Advantage of Seasonal Produce.
If you have a garden, use what’s available right now. If the harvest is over, what do you have an overabundance of in your pantry or cellar?
If you don’t have a garden, in season produce will be more cost effective and things that are currently in season where you live are a perfect fit for a fall party.
Watch Out for Changing Weather
Depending on where you live, the date of the shower, and the whims of nature, the weather may be hot, warm, cool, cold, or all of the above! Consider what is normal, especially if your shower is outdoors or includes and outdoor games. Then be prepared for all possible variations . . . including rain, snow, and ice!
