Ways to Use the Text of Proverbs 31:10-31 At a Christian Bridal Shower

Do you want to use the text of Proverbs 31:10-31 at a bridal shower? Whether you are throwing a Proverbs 31 Woman themed bridal shower or you just want to incorporate the text into the shower somewhere, you may be wondering, “But what can I actually do with it?” I’m glad you asked!

I think that’s a great idea! Obviously. And I have some ideas.

9 Ways to Use the Text of Proverbs 31: 10-31 at a Christian Bridal Shower

Make It the Theme of the Bridal Shower

Yes, you could choose Proverbs 31 as your shower theme and just called the theme “Proverbs 31” or “The Proverbs 31 Woman,” but you could also pull out a commonly quoted phrase from the text itself and use that as your theme.

For example, “A Virtuous Woman” or “Far Above Rubies”. These are the ones I am most familiar with and both are taken from the KJV. Other possibilities include:

  • An excellent wife (ESV, NASB)
  • More precious than Jewels (ESV, RSV)
  • Far Above Jewels (NASB)
  • A Wife of Noble Character (NIV)
  • More Than Rubies (NIV)

Include the phrase on the shower invitations, and put up a sign or banner at the shower itself.

Use the Text On the Shower invitations

If you are making your own invitations or using an appropriate template, and the invitation is big enough, include a verse or partial verse. For example:

“She looketh well to the ways of her household” would be perfect for a household shower.

Verse ten or verse thirty would be great for a more general shower or a personal shower.

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”

Proverbs 31:10

“Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”

Proverbs 31:30

Use The Text In Your Shower Decor

I mean, don’t cut up the Bible, or anything like that, but you can totally use verses, words, phrases, or even the entire passage as part of your bridal shower decor!

  • Print out the entire passage (make it kind of fancy) and frame it for a wall or table. Or, just tape it to a wall.
  • Use key verses framed or taped to the walls, scattered throughout the room. Or you could even scatter verse cards on the tables.
  • Use short phrases such as, “A Virtuous Woman” and “Far above rubies” scattered around the room.
  • Use key words from the text, scattered around as decor. Word examples: virtuous, wisdom, kindness. You could put them on the tables, hang them from the ceiling, stick them to the walls. Wherever they make sense to you. The sky’s the limit (except that if you put them in the sky no one will be able to see them . . . ).
  • You could also make a display that includes a Bible open to Proverbs 31.

Use for Games and Activities

Use games and activities that are based on the passage. For example:

  • What’s In Your Purse
  • Advice for the Bride
  • Word Scrambles
  • Charades
  • Draw and Guess
  • Word Searches

Read the Passage During the Bridal Shower

At some point during the shower, read the text. Perhaps at the beginning, to explain the theme or lead into a devotional thought. Or in the middle, before you engage in related activities.

Use it as Part of a Bridal Shower Devotional

Use the whole passage or specific verses as part of a bridal shower devotional.

Ask Guests to Share

Particularly if Proverbs 31 is your theme, at some point during the shower ask guests to share their thoughts and experiences: For example, you could ask them to share:

  • Their favorite verses
  • How the passage has impacted their lives
  • Real life applications
  • Things they have learned about a particular verse
  • Tips for being “a virtuous woman,” “an excellent wife,” etc.

When to do this?

Here are some ideas:

  • As part of a devotional
  • As part of an “advice for the bride” activity
  • As a stand-alone activity (at the point in the shower when you would do games)
  • Just before having a special prayer for the bride

Pray for the Bride Based on Proverbs 31

Taking time for a special prayer for the bride is a beautiful thing to include in a Christian Bridal Shower. You could pray based on the themes found in the Proverbs 31 passage.

For Party Favors

And finally, you could use the text either as favors or as part of the favors. For example:

  • Include a verse or phrase on the favor tag
  • Give Bible verse cards as the favor
